CEC-NH Monthly Newsletter

Dear CEC Member,

We welcome you back to the 2023-24 school year! The Board of Directors hopes the school year is off to a great start. We’d like to take a few minutes to fill you in on the latest CEC-NH news.

First, the strength of CEC has always been its members. At a time when the field of education continues to struggle with personnel shortages and post-pandemic impact, we want to recognize and celebrate all you do to meet the needs of students with disabilities. You don’t just show up – you bring your A game each day. THANK YOU!

CEC-NH Committees

The Board is currently finalizing several committees to facilitate the work of CEC-NH. Descriptions and responsibilities for each committee will be shared in the November newsletter. At that time, everyone is encouraged to volunteer for a committee of their choice. The needs and interests of its members will shape the work of CEC-NH. Your participation is essential to growing our organization.

CEC National Conference

If you’ve never been to the national CEC Conference, you are missing one of the most exciting special education professional development offerings. The conference will be held in San Antonio on March 13, 2024 - March 16, 2024. There is still time to register at this link: https://exceptionalchildren.org/. If you are planning to attend, please let Amanda Hughlock, President Elect, know so NH folks can network while in San Antonio. You can reach Amanda at ([email protected]).

In Case You Haven’t Heard

The world of special education is always changing, and this year is no different. Here is information to be aware of as the school year progresses. Please see the: Updated Dyslexia Legislation with Technical Advisory from NHED and Restraint and Seclusion.

Tip of the Month:

Just as you scheduled student services based on their IEPs, set up a weekly/monthly schedule for when and how you will progress monitor each student’s IEP goals. Quarterly progress reports will be due before you know it and each report should answer the following question: Given the progress to date, is the student is on track to meet their IEP goal, and if not, what will be done to change the student’s trajectory?

Again, on behalf of CEC-NH, we look forward to a productive year.

Sincerely,

Your CEC-NH Board of Directors
